London, UK. July 27, 2021– Lockheed Martin UK has been honoured with the Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) for outstanding support towards the Armed Forces community.

The Gold Award represents the highest recognition for those that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families.

The company actively recruits veterans of all ages and provides flexible support to employees with military commitments such as reservists, military spouses and partners, and adult cadet forces volunteers.

Paul Livingston, chief executive Lockheed Martin UK, said “Lockheed Martin is honoured to be recognised at the highest level for our support to the Armed Forces community through the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. We recognise the unique skills and experience that veterans, reservists and cadets bring to our business and ultimately our ability to provide for our customers.”

Lockheed Martin signed the Armed Forces Covenant and joined the employer recognition scheme in 2014, providing a national-wide promise to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

Alice Mallen, Lockheed Martin Director of Human Resources for the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, who has personal experience as a military spouse, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be a forces friendly employer with 15 percent of our global workforce coming from our Armed Forces community. All too often veterans and those with military commitments face challenges or disadvantages in employment and the workplace and we believe all companies should consider being a forces friendly employer as part of their diversity and inclusion agenda.”

Key initiatives such as the company offering flexible work schedules, 15 days paid leave for all their serving Reservists, a newly established Military Mentoring Network for employees and their families, and support for key Armed Forces community charities have all contributed to reaching the MOD Gold Award.

The company also participates in the Career Transition Programme (CTP), which supports career advice and opportunities to former serving military individuals, aiding and assisting their transition from military to civilian employment.
